The Journey
The Stations of the Cross — the Via Crucis, “the Way of the Cross” — are a sequence of fourteen moments from the final day of Jesus Christ’s life, from his condemnation to his entombment.
The tradition grew from the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem, the very route Jesus walked to Mount Calvary. Pilgrims retraced that road in prayer, and over the centuries the fourteen stations became the fixed images and prayers of the Passion we know today.
During Lent — and most especially on Good Friday — the faithful walk from station to station, pausing at each to pray and reflect, in reparation for the suffering Christ endured for us. It is a journey of sorrow that ends not in death, but in the promise of the Resurrection.
In our workshop we bring this sacred journey to life in natural stone. Every sculpture is hand-carved by our own artists — the same studio, the same hands, in our own workshop — so that churches and families can carry the Way of the Cross into their own space, for a lifetime of devotion.
The Fourteen Stations
